Let's see, the last time we saw Call the Midwife there was a wedding, a trial and of course lots-o-babies being born! So what should we expect in Season II? More babies! The series continues with nurses Jenny, Chummy, Cynthia and Trixie birthing babies and interacting with London's East End community in the 1950's.
How will Chummy, adjusting to her new role as wife, stay on call? Oh, and will Jenny Lee find love? What new challenges will the ladies face as they ride their bikes off to the unknown? How will developments in medicine affect the birthing process? I can't wait to find out! I think the wonderful thing about this program is its ability to focus on both the midwives' lives and the women they tend to. Every delivery tells a story. I thought I'd seen it all last season but I expect to be even more shocked this time around. If you have been hiding up under a "Downton rock" and have not seen the first season, PBS is streaming it online for a limited time. It might be a good idea to watch it a second time as well just to catch up. Season 2 begins Sunday March 31 at 8 p.m. on WNED-TV. Watch a preview here! In the meantime... Do you have any midwife stories you'd like to share? Let us know. We'd love to hear from you!
