New Rhythm to Saturday Night Blues

We have a new Saturday night blues host! WBFO welcomed Pat Feldballe on Dec. 8 with his first air shift. Pat actually started his career at WBFO in the 1970s and then worked at various radio stations in the Buffalo area. Not only has Pat voiced hundreds of local and national commercials, but he was also inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2009.

“Music, and blues music in particular, is very important to me,” said Feldballe. “I look forward to returning to my roots on WBFO.”

Appreciation for the Blues

It was a collision of cultures, between WBFO’s favored Blues fans at The Sportsmen’s Tavern and the plates of caviar, shrimp and Nickel City finger food served up hot and tasty.

My signature “Are you ready for the blues” resonated from the stage followed by Anita West’s warm welcome to the 100 invited Blues loyalists. Some came from as far as Cincinnati and Toronto to shower Anita with tokens of love and esteem.

Every (Weekend) You Have the Blues

As I mentioned on Tuesday, it has been quite busy around WNED for the past month with the addition of WBFO. Our NPR programming has gotten a little facelift and we’ve also welcomed the Blues to our AM airwaves. While I do not know a whole lot about Blues music (and I won’t pretend that I do), it is definitely a genre of music that I respect and enjoy. Luckily, we have two knowledgeable people bringing you the Blues Saturdays, 7-11 p.m. and Sundays, 7-midnight on WBFO/AM-970.
