If you are like most of us, you can’t wait to get your Downton fix in January (for a D.A. addict like myself, it seems so far away) but there is a similar program that could make you resist your urge to pop in the Downton DVDs for the 4th or 5th time (let’s face it you are going to at some point before the new year, if only for a recap!).
Upstairs Downstairs returns to WNED-TV this weekend (Sunday evening at 9 p.m.) and with the addition of a few new faces, 165 Eaton Place has been turned “upside down.” With the threat of war on the horizon, Lady Agnes continues to struggle to find her place in the household, her marriage and society. Lines are crossed, secrets are liberated from their cages causing scandal and uproar and that’s just upstairs! Down below we find an ever increasing need to be more and do more outside of the walls of Eaton Place. But will this “need” be due to necessity, desire, or duty? The decadent lifestyle has definitely changed in Britain. Gone are the fabulous dinner parties, gorgeous gowns and sheer opulence. It’s all been stored away in the closet that once hid all of the secrets and lies. For now there is no upstairs or downstairs there's only somewhere in between where everyone is ducking for cover. But… from what…or from who?
