So WNED’s Hockey: More Than A Game aired last night. We sure hope that you enjoyed it! In sticking with the hockey theme, WNED-AM 970’s Jay Moran is this week’s Factoid Friday.
Jay can be heard on every drive into work as the local host of Morning Edition…or at Sabres games! He even traveled over to Berlin for the team’s stint in Europe this past fall.
As the public address announcer, Jay is responsible for introducing the players, announcing goals and keeping the crowed excited during games. He began his career with the Sabres after acting as the public address announcer for the NCAA basketball games that were being held at the Arena. The then-director of game presentation heard Jay and said that the team would try using his talent for a couple of games which turned into seven years!
There you have it, a little fun fact about one of our employees here. I like Jay a lot better than this guy, by the way.
