Celebrating Central City Café

By Guest Blogger Caesandra Seawell

Join us for the celebration of Central City Café's 21st Anniversary and Fall Harvest Festival on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 from 1  – 4 p.m.  at the Central City Café Gymnasium (200 East Eagle St, Buffalo 14204)

pumpkinCentral City Café has been serving free meals to folks all over Buffalo for more than 20 years. Next week, the Café celebrates its 21st anniversary with a Fall Harvest Festival and an invitation for neighbors to grow their own fresh vegetables. Through the help of LiveWell, a community engagement initiative of WNED's ThinkBright and Well service, the Café was able to incorporate fresh vegetables into their menus this year because the Café built a huge vegetable garden.

Neighbors around the Café have expressed interest in the garden and growing vegetables for their own family meals. The Fall Harvest Festival is an opportunity to learn more about Central City Café, the garden and the neighborhood. This family-friendly event will include cooking demonstrations, crafts, gardening and nutrition info, fun games, health checks and tours of the garden!
