Money, money, money, money, money sings The O’Jays. I think this song should be Michelle Singletary’s theme music. The personal finance guru will be taping an upcoming PBS special on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 1-4 p.m. in our big studio with a live audience (that you can be part of!) The program Spend Well, Live Rich with Michelle Singletary is slated to air on December 5 on WNED-TV.
Singletary is a nationally syndicated columnist for The Washington Post and her award-winning column, The Color of Money also appears in more than 100 newspapers, including The Buffalo News. She can be heard on various NPR shows including All Things Considered, Talk of the Nation, and Tell Me More. In all actuality, her list of credentials is extremely impressive are far too lengthy to list here.
The graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park and The John Hopkins University is no stranger to WNED; she appeared in our PBS production of Your Life, Your Money.
If you’d like to attend the taping, there are still spots available. I’d suggest that you hurry and snag them, as they are going quick. Reservations can be made by calling me at (716) 845-7000 ext. 352, corpcomm@wned.org, or by filling out a quick form online.
While all this talk of money is grand, its important to keep things in perspective. Singletary has a section of money quotes on her website and my personal favorite from the page: “He is rich or poor according to what he is, not according to what he has” Henry Ward Beecher.
