170 Million Americans…and counting.

Big BirdImagine a world without Big Bird, Clifford or Antiques Roadshow.  Hard to comprehend, right?  These programs, and many more, have become so deeply ingrained into our culture and seem priceless – and all it costs you is less than a cup of coffee or a bus pass.

Did you know that 170 million Americans utilize public broadcasting? That’s over half of the U.S. population!  The numbers are quite impressive, especially when you compare them to the figures below.  More Americans utilize public broadcasting than:Sovereigns Parade at Sandhurst. Prince William watched by Kate Middleton, Prince Charles and Camilla passes out at the Sovereign Parade, Royal Military Academy, taken by HM The Queen at the end of his military training.<br />Photo Ian Jones

  • · watched the 2011 Super Bowl
  • · tuned in for the Royal Wedding
  • · own dogs or cats (combined)
  • · the number of people who follow the top four celebrities on Twitter: Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Barak Obama and Katy Perry (combined).
